Diagnostic Services

In-house laboratory

A person in a red jacket and gray pants jogs on a path under the sun, holding a leash attached to a dog. Guided by their veterinarian’s advice for staying active, they enjoy the crisp air as bare trees line the path and sunlight casts long shadows on the ground.
We have the capability to perform various blood screens, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, urinalysis, dermatological analysis, and other types of testing onsite instead of sending samples to an outside lab.

While we do offer an extensive range of on-site testing, it is possible that your pet may need laboratory work beyond our scope. For those cases, we are happy to send blood work or other testing to an outside lab that will send results back to us.

Ultrasound

A brown tabby cat with green eyes playfully lies on its side on a blue carpet. The sunlight from a nearby window softly illuminates its fur, highlighting the distinct dark stripes, as if posing for a vet's perfect snapshot.
Ultrasound is a powerful diagnostic tool that creates a real-time image of an animal’s body. This composite reveals important information about internal processes including the circulatory, skeletal and gastrointestinal systems.

When used in conjunction with other diagnostic tools, ultrasounds can help identify disease, blockages, skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage and other internal injuries.

An ultrasound works by broadcasting high-frequency sound waves that reflect off your pet’s internal structures. A small probe held against the skin collects the returning signals to create an image of the internal body, most commonly used to examine abdominal organs like the stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen and gallbladder.

Completely painless and non-invasive, ultrasounds usually require some sedation because the patient must remain completely still. Madison Street Animal Hospital employs advanced imaging technologies operated by board-certified veterinary radiologists, guaranteeing the highest quality of care for our patients.

Echocardiogram

A beagle with a tricolor coat is lying on a chair, gazing to the side, perhaps pondering its last visit to the vet. It wears a collar with a bell. The background is softly blurred, showing hints of greenery and natural light through a window.
We’re proud to partner with a mobile cardiologist to offer echocardiograms to patients we suspect might be suffering from disease or malfunction of the heart. An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart muscle and tissue, providing precise information about valves, blood flow, chamber size, and contractions.+
