Domestic Health Certificate Exams
Traveling with your dog or cat within the United States? We examine your pet and complete the health certificate that airlines, states, and boarding facilities ask for.
Certificate of Veterinary Inspection
Issued after a physical exam
What a Health Certificate is
A health certificate, also called a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), is an official document. An accredited veterinarian signs it to confirm your pet was examined, appears healthy, and meets the vaccine requirements for where you’re going.
Flying
Most airlines require a certificate dated shortly before departure, especially for pets traveling in the cabin or as cargo.
Driving Across State Lines
Many states require proof of health and rabies vaccination for pets that enter, even when you’re only moving or visiting.
Boarding, Shows, and Relocation
Kennels, event organizers, and housing providers sometimes ask for a recent exam on paper.
What Happens At Your Visit
Plan for a standard appointment. Most visits finish the same day.
1. We confirm the requirements
We check the rules for your destination and your airline so the certificate has everything it needs.
2. We examine your pet
Your veterinarian performs a full physical exam and reviews vaccine and parasite-prevention records.
3. We complete the paperwork
If your pet is healthy and requirements are met, we fill out, sign, and issue the certificate.
4. You travel with confidence
Keep the certificate with you. Carry a copy of your pet’s rabies certificate as well.

Common Questions
Does my pet need to be up to date on rabies?
Is this the same as an international health certificate?
How often does my pet need a dental cleaning?
Most dogs and cats benefit from a professional dental cleaning once a year, though pets with a history of dental disease or heavy tartar buildup may need more frequent care. Our team will assess your pet's oral health at each visit and recommend a cleaning schedule based on what we find.
Can I do anything at home to support my pet's dental health?
Yes—regular toothbrushing with a pet-safe toothpaste is the most effective home care routine you can establish. We know that's easier said than done with some pets, so our team can show you techniques that work and suggest additional products to help maintain oral health between professional cleanings.
Can I count on the certificate being valid for my whole trip?
What if my pet isn’t healthy enough to travel?
