Annual wellness checkups are a crucial part of preventative care. Our nose-to-tail exams give us a good picture of your pet’s overall health and alert us to any changes that might have occurred since their last visit. Proactive Approach Preventative or general wellness care means a proactive approach to medicine. Ideally, problems are caught before they become more serious – and more expensive – and it frees you and your pet to spend your time doing what you really want to do: enjoy each other’s company and unconditional love.

At Madison Street Animal Hospital, we cherish the opportunity we have to nourish and care for pets over the course of a lifetime. We pamper our puppy and kitten patients, adore our adults, and celebrate our seniors. And because we understand that needs change with age, we tailor our treatment plans to best meet your pets where they are on their journey.

In the blurred greenery, which creates a natural setting, the dog stands calmly with a focused expression, as if ready for its next visit to the veterinarian.

What To Expect

Your pet’s comprehensive physical examination will include some or all of the following:

A green heart-shaped logo featuring a white outline of a square digital scale with a clock face inside it, symbolizing precision and care, much like the dedication of a vet.

Temperature and weight

A green heart-shaped icon with a white outline of a cat holding a medical document featuring a cross symbol, symbolizing trusted care provided by a veterinarian.

Eyes, ears, and mouth

A teal green heart shape with a stylized lungs icon inside, featuring thin white outlines and small accents, sits centrally on the heart. This symbol is perfect for themes related to respiratory health or veterinary care, emphasizing the vet's role in maintaining animal wellness.

Heart and lungs

A stylized illustration of a hair follicle embedded in skin layers is depicted in white on a heart-shaped green background, symbolizing hair treatment or dermatological care. This design also subtly nods to the precise care akin to veterinary expertise.

Abdomen and skin

A teal heart shape with a white outline of a bone inside it symbolizes the compassionate care provided by veterinarians.

Bones and joints

A teal heart icon featuring a white outline of a tooth with a small shield and plus sign, symbolizing dental protection or oral health care. It subtly echoes the dedication to comprehensive health often seen in veterinary practices.

Teeth/Dental health

We recommend a physical exam at least once per year for adult pets and then every six months for senior pets. If you’ve recently adopted or purchased a pet, then we advise you that you book an appointment for their first examination within the first few weeks of ownership. Younger animals are very vulnerable to illness and this will allow us to make sure they have the vaccinations they need, reassure you of their health, and give us a starting point for their medical records. Annual Exams Green heart shapes of various sizes are scattered across a black background, creating a simple, abstract pattern reminiscent of a veterinarian's gentle touch. A fluffy Persian cat with black and orange patches is lying on a towel. Two hands, possibly of a vet, are gently brushing its fur. The cat has wide, attentive eyes and appears calm during the grooming session.
